History is the topic of poster contest

The Withlacoochee Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution invites all third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students interested in the history of the Revolutionary War to participate in the Americanism Elementary School Poster Contest. The contest is open to all public and parochial schools, homeschooled students, Scouts or Children of the American Revolution members. Young artists with an enthusiasm toward art, a love of American history or a passion in creative expression may submit a poster to the chapter. Posters that win at the local level advance to the state level and then the national level, where monetary awards will be presented in June. The theme for the 2017-18 contest is "The American Revolution in Florida — The Battle of Pensacola." Teachers, parents and Scout leaders interested in the program may contact Larry Sturgeon at (352) 688-2947 or larrydsturgeon@hotmail.com. The deadline to submit a poster is March 30.
