Palm Harbor man believed to have drowned in Country Place Apartments pool

A 68-year-old Palm Harbor man died Monday after surveillance video shows he went underwater at the Country Place Apartments community pool and never resurfaced.

After residents found Eliezer Rodriguez submerged alone in the pool, Palm Harbor Fire Rescue paramedics pulled him from the water and performed CPR, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Rodriguez was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly before noon. It was 43 minutes after the surveillance video showed him going underwater.

Deputies said they believe that the man drowned and that his death was accidental.
