CASS Contemporary and the Epicurean Hotel will host an opening reception for artist Max Kauffman's solo show, "When the Current Dictates," on Friday.
They partnered with the same goal, to provide Epicurean Hotel guests and members of the community with an additional venue in which to view and appreciate art.
This installation will be the fourth rotation featured in the hotel's permanent satellite gallery.
Kauffman's work is inspired by anthropology, architecture and the magic of nature and evokes the everyday struggles of humanity.
His art showcases the dystopian harmony of what is and what could be, and the idea of being open to possibility while maintaining a plan.
Though the Oakland, Calif.-based artist typically works small-scale with media such as watercolor and acrylic, he also creates murals.
During the opening reception, which takes place on Sept. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. at 1207 S Howard Ave., Kauffman will be available for a casual Q&A while guests enjoy Chateau Ste. Michelle wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres.
Space is limited and tickets are $25. The ticket price will be applied to any purchase made during the event.
Tickets can be purchased through epicureanhotel.com/event/cass-max-kauffman.
