County gets grant to improve soccer fields

The Hernando County Commission this week was presented with a $100,000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection that will allow improvements to the soccer fields at Anderson Snow Park. Presented to the commission by Barbara Roberts, the new manager of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, the grant will provide two phases of funding for soccer fields 1, 2, 3 and 6.

Work will include stripping, resodding, rolling sod, adding artificial turf and landscaping. All six fields at the park are used by the First Hernando Youth Soccer Club, which includes 1,400 boys and girls ages 3 to 18.
