Miss Heart of Florida Pageant: Monday is the deadline to enter the 22nd annual Miss Heart of Florida Pageant, to be held Feb. 24 in conjunction with the 65th annual Pasco County Fair. The pageant is open to girls ages 6-17 who have lived in Pasco County for at least six months prior to the date of the event. Contestants will be judged in the following age groups: 6-8; 9-10; 11-12; 13-14; and 15-17. The nonrefundable entry fee is $35. Entries received after Monday and by Feb. 19 will be accepted, but with the addition of a $10 late fee. Miss Pasco County Pageant: Women ages 17-24 who live in Pasco County or surrounding counties are invited to compete in the Miss Pasco County Pageant, to be held Feb. 25 in conjunction with the 65th annual Pasco County Fair. Two titles will be awarded: Miss Pasco County and Miss Pasco County Fair.
The pageant is affiliated with the Miss America Pageant Scholarship Program and the local winners will compete in the Miss Florida Pageant in July. The winner there goes on to compete for the title of Miss America.
Contestants will compete in the categories of interview, swimsuit, talent, evening wear and on-stage question. Contestants must have lived in Pasco, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Sumter, Manatee, Citrus or Lake counties for at least six months prior to the pageant date. She also must never have been married, pregnant or convicted of a crime. There is no entry fee but each contestant is required to raise $100 for the Children's Miracle Network before the pageant dress rehearsal.
