Player registration and sponsorship sign-up is open for the Hope Classic, a benefit for Queena Vuong that will be held July 31 at Topgolf, 10690 Palm River Road.
Charges vary for the tournament: $400 for a group of six, $75 for individuals and $30 for spectator/dinner only.
The tournament will feature awards, a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, private cash bar, golf pro instructor, all-American dinner buffet, and, of course, a fun evening of golf.
Topgolf Tampa is one of the country's few premier three-story golf entertainment complexes. Players hit golf balls containing computer microchips that track each shot's accuracy and distance while also awarding points for hitting targets on the outfield. The venue offers an upscale, laid-back experience with an impressive food and drink menu.
Vuong, who survived a brutal attack at the Bloomingdale Library in 2008, continues to persevere through her life-altering injuries and serves as an inspiration to others. Queena cannot walk, talk, see or eat on her own, but she is making improvements. She communicates through widening her eyes, smiling and clenching her fists.
She requires around-the-clock care and attends daily physical, occupational and experimental therapies to aid her recovery. The recovery process is slow, but very noticeable, as she slowly makes strides toward regaining her own normalcy every day.
However, the costs for her medical, therapy and home care expenses remain prohibitive. Proceeds from the event will help pay for those expenses.
