Seminars and Lutz's plan for the Fourth of July

Nominees sought for Disability Advocacy Awards: The Hillsborough County Alliance for Citizens With Disabilities is seeking nominations for the annual Disability Advocacy Awards, which honor local individuals and organizations that have improved the lives of people living with disabilities. Free screenings and medication check: Memorial Hospital of Tampa will offer blood pressure and glucose screenings and the chance to speak with a pharmacist about possible medication side effects and drug interactions from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at 2901 Swann Ave. Free. Call (813) 342-1313.

Night photography: Photographer Ronald Slaton will teach participants how to take better night photographs with a digital camera at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at John F. Germany Public Library, 900 N Ashley Drive. Free. Call (813) 273-3652.

Back pain: Attend a talk on managing back pain by chiropractor Jeffrey M. Langmaid from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the North Tampa Branch Library, 8916 N Boulevard. Dr. Langmaid of the Florida Orthopaedic Institute will also demonstrate how to sit and lift properly and discuss ways to reduce back pain throughout the day and during sleep. The event is free. Lutz Fourth: Independence Day festivities in Lutz include a 5K run; 1-mile run and family walk; flag raising ceremony; cake auction; and parade, which begins at Crooked Lane Road at 10 a.m. and proceeds east along Lutz Lake Fern Road toward the business district. Bleachers will be set up in the parking lot of the Lutz Branch Library. At 11 a.m., the Lutz Volunteer Fire Department will sell barbecue chicken lunches.
