WEDU-Ch. 3 is now accepting applications and nominations for the 12th annual Be More Awards, which will honor West Central Florida organizations.
The PBS affiliate will accept applications and online nominations in a variety of categories that will recognize acts of generosity and kindness by organizations, volunteers and individuals.
Awards will be given in a variety of categories from marketing campaigns, special events, educational outreach, arts and culture, to philanthropists and volunteers.
High Risk Hope was honored as the 2015 Be More Unstoppable Nonprofit of the Year award winner and was the recipient of a $2,500 WEDU Community Investment Grant. The nonprofit, founded by Heather Barrow, helps women and families experiencing high-risk pregnancies.
Earlier this year, Barrow described the partnership between WEDU and her organization as invaluable.
"They play a vital role in the nonprofit community," she said. "It's not just about TV promotion."
Other 2015 winners included: Julie Weintraub's Hands Across Tampa Bay, Chrissy Dos Santos from Frameworks of Tampa Bay, the Glazer Children's Museum and the Junior League of Tampa.
There is no charge to apply. Applications and nominations will be accepted through Oct. 28.
The WEDU Be More Awards application and complete details can be found at WEDU.org/bemore or by calling (800) 354-9338 ext 2241.
The luncheon and ceremony will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the new Bryan Glazer Family JCC.
