Time's running out on winning $16M ticket
A $16 million dollar Powerball lottery ticket that was purchased at a Carrollwood convenience store six months ago is set to expire tonight. The person who bought the winning ticket has yet to come forward, according to lottery officials.
The unclaimed jackpot, the largest since 2003, has focused a barrage of attention on Carrollwood Market, the modest convenience store at 4550 W Village Drive, where the winning ticket was purchased.
Store owner Nidia Tannous said she has fielded nearly a dozen calls a day in the last week as news of the unclaimed fortune spread.
"At this point we don't think it's one of our regular customers," Tannous said. "We actually think it might be somebody from out of town because the drawing was held on Memorial Day weekend."
The winning numbers were 02, 06, 19, 21, 27 and a Powerball of 25.
