Public hearing set for big downtown St. Pete condo-hotel project

New York’s Red Apple Group wants to build a 45-story condo tower.

ST. PETERSBURG — A public hearing will be held Wednesday, Dec. 4 on site plans for a previously announced mixed-use project on the 400 block of Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg.

New York-based Red Apple group is seeking approval from the city’s Development Review Commission for a 45-story condo tower and a 225-room Marriott-managed hotel. The project also would include 15,000 feet of meeting space, 20,000 feet of office space and 25,000 feet of commercial space.

Red Apple, founded by billionaire John Catsimatidis, has said it hopes to start construction early next year. The hearing will be at 2 p.m. at the Sunshine Center at 330 5th St. N.
