After a spike last week, gas prices in the Sunshine State are down slightly.
Florida gas averaged $2.51 a gallon on Tuesday, down 1 cent over the week, according to AAA, the Auto Club Group. Tampa Bay prices were $2.48 a gallon on average, down 2 cents from the same day last week.
The dip follows a 7-cent spike on average across the state last week.
“Gasoline supplies are soaring, reaching the highest level in almost a year," Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesman, said. "That, combined with low fuel demand, should help restore downward pressure on prices at the pump.”
Despite the dip, gas in Florida is nearly 30 cents higher than it was this time last year, AAA said. Nationally, gas was $2.54 per gallon Tuesday.
