TAMPA — Two months after announcing layoffs of 245 employees from its call center east of Tampa, Concentrix this week notified Tallahassee that up to another 174 layoffs are coming.

Concentrix, which provides call center and other support services to clients on six continents, said the latest round of layoffs is expected to take place March 21 as a result of the closure of one of its programs at the Interstate Corporate Center on E Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Interstate 4.

That’s the same center where Concentrix, which is based in Fremont, Calif., said in November that it would lay off 245 employees this month.

As it indicated in November, the company’s notice to the state said it is not pulling out of Tampa.

“Although this program is closing, the company will maintain a presence in the area through a significant number of positions on another program,” Concentrix senior director and legal counsel Bernadine Topazio said in a letter. She did not indicate whether the two rounds of layoffs involved the same program.

Concentrix has more than 225,000 employees worldwide and provides customer engagement, sales support, data and analytics, customer communications and other services to clients in health care, automotive sales, e-commerce, banking and finance, health care, consumer electronics, and travel, transportation and tourism. Along with Tampa, the company has Florida centers in Jacksonville and Lake Mary north of Orlando.
