TAMPA — Revered local brewery Coppertail has teamed up with Wawa to create a craft beer special for Florida.

Wawa partnered with Pennsylvania’s 2SP Brewing Company to debut craft beers in Pennsylvania and Virginia in December. But on Thursday, it will debut the the Snow Bird Reserve Vanilla Porter in Florida.

The Florida beer — that pays homage to the number of northerners who head south to escape the cold during the winter — was crafted by 2SP, Wawa and Coppertail’s brewmaster Casey Hughes.

The porter was made with malted barley and Wawa’s Reserve Coffee. It also has a hint of vanilla.

The canned beer will be available across the state’s 200 Wawa locations. But there will be a special firkin-tapping event Thursday at 3:45 p.m. at the Tampa Wawa at 3660 W Gandy Blvd. Customers can meet the brewers and get a free brewer tour T-shirt.

“We can’t wait to premiere Snowbird Reserve to our city and show what we have been working on,” Hughes said in a statement.
