TAMPA — Sparkman Wharf has signed on its first clothing retailer, locally owned Joyful Notion.

Sparkman Wharf, in the city’s developing Water Street neighborhood, is an outdoor food hall. The boutique will open this summer.

It will take up 1,400 square feet inside Sparkman’s loft-style building at 615 Channelside Drive. The boutique will carry brands such as Free People and Alo Yoga. It will also host weekly flower arranging and craft making classes.

“We believe Tampa is ready to have access to shops in walking distance to all of the places that already make the area so great,” shop owner Crystal Johnsen said in a statement. “Downtown Tampa has been lacking shopping destinations for a long time, so it’s exciting to see this beginning to change.”

Joyful Notion will join existing offices, shops and eateries such as Industrious, Jeni’s Ice Cream, Splitsville, Edison’s Swigamajig and Gallito.

The shop is planning a July opening, according to its Facebook page.
