These last several months have reminded many of us that a workplace is so much more than an office.

It’s made up of coworkers who have a shared sense of mission even as they work remotely. It includes leaders who can chart a course through troubled waters. And, yes, to many of us a good one often offers competitive pay and solid benefits, like health care, including mental health support for stressful times.

Of course, many of us are still reporting to shared workplaces where our job involves providing a service or groceries or a candle-lit dinner to customers who may be visiting with their own sets of anxieties.

Maybe the pandemic has driven home what makes your employer a great place to work. Tell us about it.

Now more than ever, we’re eager to hear stories about the Top Workplaces of Tampa Bay as part of our annual survey. It’s not too late to nominate your employer for consideration. But the Nov. 6 deadline is fast approaching.

Sure, many of you may be working from home. That includes many of us at the Tampa Bay Times, even as we publish story after story about the effects of the coronavirus, the economic slowdown that has resulted and people’s attempts to adapt to it or live some semblance of a normal life.

Tough times have a way of spotlighting our strongest institutions. Is your employer one of them?

We started this survey more than a decade ago. The rules have stayed largely the same.

Nominate your employer. Any company, government agency or non-profit in the Tampa Bay region with at least 50 employees is eligible. For this purpose, we define the region as Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

After receiving a nomination, our partners at Energage will reach out to the employer to see if they are willing to participate. If so, Energage will send confidential surveys to all your co-workers asking a couple of dozen questions about what makes your workplace so great. Energage will then rank the nominees and group them based on their size and the Times will publish the results in the spring.

Pretty painless. The cost is absolutely free. And your organization will get some feedback from its employees on how it’s hitting and missing. We could all use a little feedback right now. And some bragging rights for the Top Workplaces.

To submit a workplace nomination online, go to tampabay.com/nominate. By phone, call 727-498-5578.
