An Ohio engineering firm is moving its base of operations in Tampa from Carrollwood to the Westshore district, doubling its office footprint in the process.

Burgess and Niple, which has spent 20 years in an office park on N Dale Mabry Highway, is moving to Tower Place at 1511 N Westshore Blvd. The firm’s lease of 18,700 square feet represents more than a tenth of that 11-story building’s total office space.

“We are very excited to see our new office space become a reality and become a ‘space to be’ for our employees and clients,” Angelo G. Belluccia, Burgess and Niple’s Tampa district director, said in a statement. “We look forward to our expansion and providing places to collaborate and technologies deployed creating new opportunities and competitive advantages.”

Burgess and Niple specializes in infrastructure projects, including bridges, roads and utility services.

As part of the move, the company is planning a hiring spree, looking to increase its staff from 40 to 55 or 60. A spokeswoman for real estate and professional services firm JLL, which brokered the new lease, said there was no timetable yet on the new hires.
