Portillo’s is opening another Tampa Bay location, the fast-casual restaurant chain announced this month.

A restaurant is set to open in St. Petersburg in front of Tyrone Square Mall during the first half of 2022, the company said. Portillo’s is known for its Chicago-style menu and offers hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers, chocolate cake and more.

This will be Portillo’s fourth location in Florida. The chain opened its first in Brandon in 2016 and has two other restaurants in Tampa and Orlando. Ever since opening in Tampa, guests have asked Portillo’s to come across the bay, CEO Michael Osanloo said in a statement.

Portillo’s can seat more than 190 customers in the 7,800-square-foot restaurant on 2300 Tyrone Blvd., and also will feature an outdoor patio and drive-thru lanes. The building design is inspired by the 1950s and 1960s and will be diner-themed.

The chain was founded in 1963 in Villa Park, Ill., and has 70 locations across nine states.
