One of Florida’s biggest law firms is expanding its presence in downtown Tampa.

Shumaker, which has offices in Tampa, Sarasota, Dade City and Tallahassee, has reupped its lease in the Bank of America building in downtown Tampa, filling three floors at a total of 60,739 square feet. The lease, one of the biggest office deals in Tampa Bay in 2022, runs 12 years.

“Since 1985, Shumaker has made a home in Tampa Bay,” Ron Christaldi, Shumaker’s Tampa managing partner and president and CEO of Shumaker Advisors Florida, said in a statement. “This new lease furthers Shumaker’s commitment to the growth of Tampa Bay. With offices in Sarasota, Pasco, Tallahassee and Tampa, Shumaker’s proximity to our clients and the business community is a priority.”

Shumaker’s expanded lease adds more than 5,500 square feet to its existing lease. The 60,739-square-foot expansion and renewal is the seventh biggest Tampa lease this year, according to real estate services firm JLL, just smaller than a lease signed by Delta Airlines in Tampa’s Westshore District in April.

Headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, Shumaker has nearly 300 lawyers and advisors in 10 offices in five states. At least 156 employees and advisors work in the Tampa office.
