Husband and wife Daniel and Darby Pritz are frequently asked why they chose to name their business Mountaineer Coffee when there aren’t any mountains in Florida.

The inspiration for the name comes from Daniel Pritz’s grandfather who moved from West Virginia to Brooksville and opened an anitque store called Mountaineer Antiques.

Two years ago, the Pritzs opened Mountaineer Coffee in downtown Brooksville and recently expanded to New Port Richey in June and Oldsmar last month.

Prior to opening the first shop, Daniel Pritz learned to roast coffee. Raw coffee beans are imported from around the world, freshly roasted and used for coffee drinks in the three shops.

"We wanted to have our own brand," said Darby Pritz, co-owner.

Moutaineer Coffee serves a full menu of coffee drinks and Nitro cold brew coffee will be available soon. Customers can also purchase bags of whole or ground coffee beans.

The menu also includes freshly baked, homemade ‘pop pastries’ in flavors such as blueberry and Nutella. Muffins and other grab and go items are available.

Mountaineer Coffee is at 3685 Tampa Road. It is open 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For more information, visit
