A popular South Tampa Thai restaurant has a new owner and a few additions as well.
Rouen Thai has been around for nearly 20 years and has its fair share of regular customers, so when new owner Chonlada Malingam came along, she had big shoes to fill to continue its legacy and gain continued business from the regulars.
"I had to do everything to make it better than it was before," she said. "I had a reputation to uphold as the best Thai food in town."
She still wanted the restaurant to be the Rouen Thai that everyone knows and loves, which is marked by its Thailand culture presence shown in the artwork, architecture, decorations and dolls throughout the restaurant.
She only made minor changes to the restaurant's outdoor landscape and touched up the paint, but made one major addition to the menu: a sushi bar.
Malingam says customers suggested adding a sushi bar and she went with the idea to compliment their popular dishes such as the Pad Thai, fried rice, pot pies, Thai spring rolls and more.
The sushi bar offers about 15 different rolls and guests can create their own roll as well that range from $10.95 to $15.95 each.
Lunch options range from $7.95 to $11.95 and dinner entrees range from $9.95 to $30.95 for a whole fish.
Roeun Thai operates from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m for lunch Monday through Friday and for dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 5 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
They are located at 3324 W Gandy Blvd. For more information visit their facebook page @RouenThaiRestaurant.
