Tampa International Airport debuts new and improved Cigar City Brewery

When Tampa International Airport officials decided which restaurants would go and which would stay, Cigar City Brewing made a convincing case it needed to stay in the airport's massive billion dollar redevelopment plan.

The local brewery has been improved and opened last month on Airside C, the airport's busiest terminal and the hub for Southwest Airlines. Cigar City was widely popular before so they expect it to be popular again.

Tampa International Airport spokesperson Danny Valentine says Cigar City made the cut because of its local fare and the airport's reputation for being the only Florida airport with a working brewery on site.

"It's part of our effort at the airport to go local and give visitors a little more of the local Tampa area businesses flying in and out," he said.

"Cigar City was really popular before and it represents the Tampa Bay region. When you're there it really feels like Ybor City."

The airport cultivates the vibe of Ybor, commonly referred to as the "Cigar City," with its all-brick decor, and for its brewery, which is tied to Ybor's history and current presence with three different operating breweries in the area.

The new airport location includes a full kitchen whereas before it was more limited, and it features new additions to the menu, including breakfast and beer cocktails.

Also, the brewery will continue to serve the local and historical flavors of beer that it's famous for such as Tony Janus Pale Ale, Florida Cracker White Ale and more.

Cigar City Brewing's airport location operates from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Sunday. For more information visit
