TAMPA — Spirit Airlines on Thursday announced it will add four weekly nonstop flights between Tampa International Airport and Philadelphia starting Dec. 14.

The Tampa flights are part of an expansion of Spirit routes to provide holiday service to Florida from cold-weather cities like Detroit and Kansas City.

Last month, Spirit began flying between Tampa and Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Tampa International Airport officials say strong gains at Spirit, Frontier and Southwest airlines drove TIA's passenger traffic to record levels for the six months ending in March.
