Allegiant will soon connect St. Pete-Clearwater Airport to Tulsa

Published Jan. 14, 2015

CLEARWATER — Another day, another new destination for St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.

Allegiant Air announced on Tuesday that it was launching a seasonal route to Tulsa, Okla. The new flights to Tulsa International Airport will start May 7 and run twice a week through Aug. 18.

The vast majority of passengers that fly through the airport fly on Allegiant, and the airport's top carrier had previously announced plans to start flying to five new destinations within a matter of weeks: Baltimore-Washington; Indianapolis; Omaha, Neb.; Pittsburgh; and Richmond, Va.

Silver Airways on Monday announced that in March it would start flying from PIE — the airport is also known by its three-letter designation — to Fort Lauderdale and Key West.

Meanwhile Allegiant's pilots picketed in front of the airport on Tuesday as the pilots' union continued to try and break a two-year impasse with the airline over a new contract.
