Legal

Retired U.S. Navy Commander Scott G. Johnson has joined Shutts & Bowen LLP in its Tampa office as a senior attorney in the firm's Government Contracts and Corporate Law Practice Groups. Johnson brings 15 years of legal experience and 24 years of naval service to his position. At Shutts, Scott will represent federal government contractors, as well as public and private, domestic and international clients. Before joining Shutts, he served as the assistant staff judge advocate, chief of operational law at United States Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa. Johnson earned his law degree from the University of Florida's Levin College of Law and a bachelor of arts in diplomacy and foreign affairs from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

After working in the private practice of law for the past 32 years in the Tampa Bay area, David Punzak has joined former client Tech Data Corp. as director, assistant general counsel. Punzak had been with the Carlton Fields law firm for 23 years and is a former chairman of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce. A native of St. Petersburg, Punzak received his business degree and law degree from the University of Florida.

Insurance

Lykes Insurance, a commercial insurance firm headquartered in Tampa, has hired Sarah Green as a commercial account manager and Jennifer Hannen and Lana Liniger as employee benefits account managers. They will serve clients throughout the state, with a focus on the Tampa Bay area market.

Before joining Lykes, Green was manager of Quote My Rig, a commercial insurance agency that focuses largely on the transportation industry. She has earned Florida CSR, P&C and L&H licenses and holds nonresident licenses in more than 20 other states. Hannen has worked in employee benefits for over 20 years. Most recently, she was an account manager at Wallace Welch & Willingham. Liniger has more than 20 years of experience in the employee benefits and life insurance industry. Before joining Lykes Insurance, she worked as an account manager with boutique agencies in the Tampa Bay area and was the director of operations at BASELoad Inc., an IT claims provider firm in South Carolina.

Hospitality

The Epicurean Hotel announced the appointment of Kevin Scott as general manager of the 137-room boutique hotel in Tampa. Scott will oversee the hiring of new staffers and day-to-day operations of the Epicurean, located in the Hyde Park historic district of South Tampa. Tom Haines, previous general manager of the Epicurean, has been promoted to vice president of operations of Mainsail Lodging & Development, Epicurean's parent company.

With 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Scott comes to the Epicurean from the Hotel Max in Seattle, where he worked for three years as the general manager. Scott also spent seven years with Starwood Hotels & Resorts. He is a graduate of Michigan State University.

Medicine

Dr. Jenny Gould has opened her practice, Balanced Psychiatric Solutions PLLC, at 1101 Ninth Ave. N in St. Petersburg. Gould has been practicing psychiatry for over 20 years and is board certified in both child & adolescent psychiatry and general psychiatry. Her practice will focus on children, adolescents and young adults.
