'Cake Girl' cooks up goodies in a new truck

Kristina Lavallee, also known as the “Cake Girl” will debut a new food truck trailer Saturday.

LUTZ — Kristina Lavallee, also known as The Cake Girl, has been selling her baked goods at festivals and events around the Tampa Bay area for several years.

Now, she has a new way to bring her delicious desserts to customers. On Saturday, Lavallee is debuting her new dessert trailer.

"It's like a dream come true," Lavallee said.

Based out of Lutz, Lavallee opted for a mobile store instead of opening up a storefront so she could continue attending events throughout the Tampa Bay area.

"I felt like the trailer was more fun," Lavallee said. "You get to meet different people. You get to go different places."

Friends get in the loop with new brewery

A hobby of brewing beer led friends Mark Pizzurro, Pete Abreut and Joe Traina to open up a new brewery in Land O'Lakes. After working on the project for two and half years, In the Loop Brewing is slated to open by early September.

Located along the shore of Lake Padgett, In the Loop Brewing will feature a 6,000 square foot outdoor beer garden that is both family-friendly and pet-friendly.

The three friends have been working on renovating the two-story house that was already on the property.

This building will house the tap room, bar and indoor seating area, and the second-floor rooms will be used for private parties and events. The brewery will be in a renovated storage shed.

Traina said there has been a lot of excitement and support from local residents.
