The city of Bartow embraces solar energy

Will the central Florida city of Bartow be renamed Solar City?

NovaSol Energy, an Orlando-based renewable energy company, is bringing solar energy to Bartow with a 29,000-panel solar farm that is expected to generate about five to six percent of the city's annual energy requirements. In a release, representatives of the company said the project would rank the city among the top 10 largest municipal solar facilities in the state and No. 1 in terms of solar watts installed per utility customer.

NovaSol Energy and Bartow officials have slated a ribbon cutting ceremony for the solar farm on Thursday.
