ST. PETERSBURG — Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, the Tampa Bay area's largest family-owned funeral company, has been sold.

Foundation Partners Group, an Orlando company, has completed the acquisition of Premier Care of Florida, the Anderson-McQueen portfolio which consists of two namesake St. Petersburg locations, E. James Reese Funeral Home, A Life Tribute Funeral Care, Sunnyside Cemetery, Affordable Memorials, and Pet Passages.

Scott Ankerholz, Foundation Partners' vice president of marketing, declined to disclose the purchase price, citing the Orlando company's private ownership. The acquisition boosts the company's assets to 72 funeral home and nine cemeteries nationwide. Foundation Partners will continue to operate the Anderson-McQueen funeral homes under their existing names.

After helping with the transition, John McQueen, who has owned the home since 2010, will assume a larger role in company-wide training, chief financial officer Richard Benton said.

"The local customer won't be impacted," Benton said. "They'll still call the same number, and they'll see the same smiling faces."

Foundation Partners was founded in 2010. It has since more than doubled in size, a company history on its website states.
