MANUFACTURERS WANTED: CareerSource Pasco Hernando and Pasco-Hernando State College are looking for manufacturers in Pasco and Hernando counties to participate in the third annual Manufacturing Day on Oct. 2.

On Manufacturing Day, manufacturers have the opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn't — to local students and veterans.

By working together, manufacturers can address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the industry.

For information or to be part of the event, call (727) 816-3227.

For information or a grant application, visit or call Bill Geiger, community development director, at (352) 540-3815.

The Community Act of Kindness Contest will continue through Oct. 30. One winner will be randomly chosen to win a $5,000 Publix gift card, and CenterState will donate $5,000 in the form of cash or a Publix gift card to a nonprofit food bank or other charity the winner chooses.

In addition, participating branches will collect food for local food banks. Contest entries can be made in person at any CenterState Bank branch. A valid Florida ID and contact information are required for registration. Complete contest rules are available at
