Mary Shedden named news director of WUSF Public Media

Veteran journalist Mary Shedden has been named news director of WUSF Public Media.

Shedden will steer WUSF newsroom programs, such as Florida Matters, and direct local news coverage to combine with national broadcasts, such as National Public Radio's Morning Edition and All Things Considered.

Shedden previously was editor of Health News Florida. Before joining WUSF Public Media in 2013, Shedden served as a senior reporter covering health and business for the Tampa Tribune/

Shedden also has worked for Florida Today and the Gainesville Sun. She is on the board of directors for the national Association of Health Care Journalists.

A graduate of the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications, Shedden has lived in the Tampa Bay area since 1999.
