Mikey's Cafe and Bakery will re-open at a new permanent location in the spring.

Until then, diners can order the turkey swiss croissants and garlic, hummus veggie wraps at their pop-up shop, located in Seminole Heights at 6207 N Florida Ave. within The Heights Cigar Shop, next to Jug and Bottle.

The pop-up will feature a limited menu: sandwiches and salads. No desserts for now. Breakfast will only be available on the weekends, until the permanent location opens and serves it daily.

"We came here from Ohio," said co-owner Lane Parks. "My partner, Michael Carmean, has been in the food industry for 25 years and we saw an advertisement for the business. When we came in, we just fell in love with it."

So, a year and a half ago, they purchased Mikey's Cafe and Bakery from the previous owners and decided on a pop-up while the new location is under construction.

The permanent location, which Parks and Carmean hope to open by May 1, will be about two blocks away from the pop-up shop at 6428 N Florida Ave.

Carmean will create additional menu items such as a portobello mushroom sandwich, for the 2,200 square-foot space, which includes a patio.

"Even when we get home in the evening, he still cooks," Parks said. "He just loves what he does and the feedback from people."

The social butterfly of the duo, Parks will remain in his front of the house role, serving customers and adding to the inviting atmosphere.

When the permanent location does open, it will be re-named, Mikey's Cafe and Deli and it will share the space with another new business.

By day, 6428 N Florida Ave. will be occupied by Mikey's Cafe and Deli from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

By night, the Wine Bar Seminole Heights will take-over from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., or midnight.
