ST. PETERSBURG — A company headed by Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner Bryan Glazer paid $188.5 million for the historic Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club in downtown St. Petersburg, the seller revealed today.
RLJ Lodging Trust acquired the Vinoy last August as part of its $1 billion takeover of a Maryland company. The publicly traded trust, owned by BET founder Robert Johnson, had said it wanted to get out of the upscale resort business and concentrate on single-building, moderately price hotels like Embassy Suites.
