When it comes to living in a master planned community, Florida is the most popular place to be. The Sunshine State accounted for four of the five top-selling communities as of the middle of 2017, Cushman & Wakefield reports.
The Villages, that sprawling Central Florida retirement community in Sumter County that is a mandatory campaign stop for Republican candidates, ranked No. 2 in sales with 983 in the first six months of this year, a 17 percent increase over the same period a year ago.
Lakewood Ranch in Manatee County was No. 3 with 622 sales, a whopping 73 percent increase over last year. Also in the top 5 were the West Villages in Sarasota County and Nocatee in Jacksonville.
Ranking No. 1 with 1,088 sales, up 10 percent, was Irvine Ranch in the Los Angeles area. Florida, California and Texas accounted for nearly 70 percent of the top-selling communities.
