Florida ranks No. 3 for most received, sent robocalls in March

Did you get a robocall recently? You're not alone. Floridians reportedly received the third-highest number of robocalls in the country in March — 244 million.

According to the YouMail Robocall Index Snapshot, Tampa Bay ranked No. 17 for cities with the most robocalls, joining four other Florida cities in the top 50.

"The surge in consumer complaints reinforces the need for the Federal Communications Commission to strengthen the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act to cover autodialed calls and to give consumers relief from this escalating problem," said Margot Saunders, senior counsel for the National Consumer Law Center, in a release.

Saunders testified before Congress Wednesday urging lawmakers to address the issue. Miami ranked No. 13 with 44 million, Ft. Lauderdale was No. 14 with 39 million, followed by Orlando at No. 25 with 27.5 million and West Palm Beach at No. 47 with 21 million. In March, Florida also ranked third-highest for where number of robocalls originated from — 181.2 million.
