Amazon to hold job fair for new centers
Amazon is hosting a job fair for people interested in working seasonal jobs at its new distribution centers in Ruskin and Lakeland.
The job fair will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, 2504 E Chipco St. in Tampa. It is presented by Dress For Success, a nonprofit that provides work attire for women looking for a job.
At the event, candidates will learn about what it's like to work at Amazon and what positions are available.
Amazon recently opened the two fulfillment centers where workers pick, pack and ship online orders. Most of the permanent jobs have been filled, but Amazon is seeking seasonal workers to handle the Christmas shopping rush. Pay starts at about $10.50 an hour.
