Bread Artisans moves to Fourth Street in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG — The long-praised Bread Artisans bakery has moved to 6925 Fourth St. N after nine years in Pinellas Park. Owner Massimo Maviglia said the new space is double the size of his former shop, allowing more room to bake the naturally leavened bread that rises for 36 hours or more.

There are about 10 kinds a day for sale. Maviglia, a native of a small town near Rome, said his favorite is the ciabatta, though customers' favorites are probably the rosemary bread, olive bread or sourdough.

The shop, which smells wonderful, also serves homemade pastries, cookies and pizza.
