Restoration Hardware opens new design gallery at International Plaza

Restoration Hardware is opening its first design gallery in Florida at International Plaza Friday morning.

The four-story, 60,000-square-foot mansion-like store is located next to Capital Grille on Bay Street at the mall in Tampa. It replaces the boutique store the retailer closed in Hyde Park Village earlier this year, and the temporary store it operated inside International Plaza during construction.

RH, as the company prefers to be called these days, has opened several design galleries in major cities across the country. It has five stores in Florida and the new one at International Plaza will be the sixth.

Can't wait to see the inside? Here's what you need to know:

Grand opening: A ribbon-cutting with RH chief executive Gary Friedman and Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn will take place at 11 a.m. Friday. The store will open promptly after.

Parking: There will be complimentary valet parking. Or you can park in the lot near Bay Street or the garage near Nordstrom.

Inside: RH staff, including interior designers on the second and third floor Design Atelier stations, will be ready to assist customers. RH Interiors, with living room and bedroom furnishings, is on the first floor. On the second floor, shoppers will find a wide array of RH Modern furniture. The third floor is dedicated to RH Baby & Child and RH Teen room displays. The fourth floor, which is the rooftop park and conservatory, will feature outdoor decor.

Don't miss: Take a sprawling staircase at the back of the store, lined by gold-plated mirrors and dazzling helix chandeliers, to each floor above until you get to the fourth, where the rooftop park and conservatory offer views of Tampa International Airport.

Little known fact: Less than 5 percent of sales made in stores are on merchandise that can be carried out and taken home that day. Customers can buy lamps, bed sheets and other smaller items at the store and carry them out, but most items -- like couches and cabinets -- must be shipped home.
