Sur La Table to open first store in Tampa at Hyde Park Village in September

Upscale kitchen retailer Sur La Table will open its first Tampa Bay area store in Hyde Park Village next month.

The Seattle-based cookware, appliance and home goods retail chain is known for its strong customer base, vast array of luxury cooking merchandise — like a $200 wafflemaker — and in-store cooking classes.

In Florida, Sur La Table has stores in Sarasota, Naples, Boca Raton, Aventura, Coconut Creek, Palm Beach Gardens and Pembroke Pines. The new 6,107-square-foot boutique in Hyde Park Village is expected to open some time in September, though a specific date has not been set.

"We are thrilled to open a new Sur La Table store in Tampa, bringing even more jobs to the neighborhood and satisfying the needs of residents who share our passion for cooking," Diane Neal, CEO of Sur La Table, said in a statement. "Residents of Tampa will now be able to discover our unparalleled selection of exclusive and premium-quality goods for the kitchen and dining table, and experience firsthand the passion of our lauded culinary program. … We will be offering a diverse and exciting schedule of hands-on cooking classes, led by classically trained chefs."
