TAMPA — To the make-overs going on around the Tampa Convention Center — $40 million at the Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina and $30 million at the convention center itself — add $20 million in renovations at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Downtown Convention Center.
Work began in August on upgrades to all 360 rooms, plus the hotel's lobbies, meeting space and the launch of a new "beverage-centric" restaurant called Taste. All guest rooms will be redesigned and refurnished, with new fixtures, local artwork, granite bathroom countertops and LED high-definition televisions with screens no smaller than 55 inches.
The Maryland-based interior and architectural design firm Streetsense is overseeing the project, expected to be completed in December.
