Airbnb, an online vacation rental marketplace, has extended its disaster response program in Florida for two additional weeks until Oct. 12.
The program provides free temporary housing for disaster victims and relief workers, such as those affected by hurricanes Irma and Harvey. Airbnb said it consulted with Florida disaster leadership, who suggested the platform continue the free housing those who cannot yet return to their homes. The program also extends to those impacted in Puerto Rico and throughout the Caribbean after hurricanes Irma and Maria. So far, more than 230 Floridians have opened their homes free of charge to help those impacted by Irma, according to Airbnb.
