ST. PETE BEACH — The Hotel Zamora is now being managed by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.
Coming off a rave review as one of Florida's top hotels in the 2015 Conde Nast Travelers Readers' Choice Awards, the 72-room boutique hotel has become Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants' sixth property in Florida and the first on the Gulf Coast.
The Kimpton Hotel Zamora is owned by Zamora Hospitality Group LLC. It opened in 2014 as the first new construction hotel in St. Pete Beach in 20 years. San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants manages boutique hotels across the country though most are marketed as their own independent names. In December 2014, Kimpton was acquired by InterContinental Hotels Group for $430 million.
The Kimpton Hotel Zamora is the seventh hotel added to the company's portfolio in the past year, joining Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh; Palladian Hotel in Seattle; Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, Calif.; Washington's Carlyle Dupont Circle; Hotel Van Zandt in Austin, Texas; and Taconic Hotel in Manchester, Vt.
"The Kimpton Hotel Zamora's distinct design and prized location presented the perfect opportunity for us to enter Florida's west coast and expand even further into the leisure and resort sector," Kimpton CEO Mike DeFrino said in a statement. "The property's striking sunset views and distinctive features also mesh well with Kimpton's signature programs and personalized service. The Kimpton Hotel Zamora will delight guests with the brand's trademark amenities — cruiser public bikes, in-room yoga mats, pet friendliness and a hosted evening wine hour."
The Kimpton Hotel Zamora is known for its white-washed Mediterranean architecture. Of its 72 rooms, 22 are bedroom suites with balconies overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. The hotel, at 3701 Gulf Blvd. in St. Pete Beach, also has a Mediterranean restaurant, rooftop lounge and 9,000 square feet of event space.
