Shay Bruno has been appointed tax manager at CBIZ & MHM, Tampa Bay. Bruno earned her bachelor of science degree in accounting from Florida State University and is a certified public accountant. She previously worked at Crowe Horwath LLP in Tampa.


Chris Jay has been named a portfolio analyst for Doyle Wealth Management Inc. Jay brings more than eight years of experience in the financial services industry and began his career with Fidelity Investments in 2007 in various roles but most recently served as a financial consultant. Prior to working with Doyle Wealth Management, Jay was a client adviser at Mercer Global Advisors.


Kristy Desmarais has been promoted to benefits director at Baldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners, Tampa. Her new responsibilities include the strategic planning and execution of employee benefits programs for some of the firm's largest clients. Desmarais analyzes benefit plans, contribution strategies, eligibility and client objectives. Desmarais has been with BKS-Partners since 2011.


Michael E. Boutzoukas has been selected as president of the Bay Area Real Estate Council. BAREC is comprised of real estate lawyers and aims to create networking opportunities and generate referrals among lawyers and real estate professionals. Boutzoukas is a shareholder at the Tampa office of Becker & Poliakoff. Most recently, he was appointed by the Clearwater City Council to the Council's Community Development Board, where he conducts design review, evaluates historic applications and reviews requests for land-use plan changes and rezonings.

Mike Matthews has been recognized by the Tampa Bay chapter of the Federal Bar Association with its Pro Bono Service and Excellence Award, in recognition of excellence in service to disadvantaged citizens of the Middle District of Florida. Matthews is a partner in the Tampa office of Foley & Lardner LLP, and serves as chairman of the Tampa litigation department and as chairman of the firm's false-claims act litigation group.

Jacqueline Simms-Petredis has been named a partner at Burr & Forman, Tampa. Simms-Petredis will practice in the firm's financial services group with a focus on financial litigation and compliance. Her experience includes assisting clients with loan modifications, short sales, deed in lieu and other loss mitigation options.

John W. Heilman has been elevated from associate to shareholder at Marshall Dennehey Warner Coleman & Goggin, Tampa. Heilman is a member of the firm's Casualty Department, and represents clients in retail liability, premises liability, product liability and automobile and trucking negligence. As a member of the firm's SIU Practice Group, he handles fraud litigation and medical provider investigations. Heilman earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and holds a law degree and MBA from the University of Florida.

Marine retail

Jim Long has been named chief executive officer at Hendry Marine and Gulf Marine, Tampa. Long will focus on business improvement and long-term planning for Hendry Marine, Gulf Marine and their affiliated companies. Long comes to HMI and Gulf Marine after serving as chief executive officer for several companies, including a billion-dollar environmental services company.


Pamela Kauten has been named general manager for JobNews USA at their Tampa office. Kauten brings 20 years' experience in recruitment strategies and employment marketing to JobsNews USA, and will now be responsible for growth of the Tampa Bay market. Previously, Kauten was founder and president of PEAK Connections Inc., and Florida CareerLINK, a leading recruiting services and software company that developed and provided innovative recruiting solutions for local employers. She sold the business in 2007.

Retirement communities

David Schupack has been named associate executive director of the Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg. In this role, Schupack will assist the executive director in overseeing the operations of the community and maintain an engaging atmosphere for residents and their families. Prior to joining the Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, Schupack served as the associate executive director of the Watermark at East Hill, a sister-property located in Southbury, Conn.
