CLEARWATER — The city’s two chambers of commerce — the Clearwater Regional Chamber and the Clearwater Beach Chamber — have officially merged.
The new group’s new name? Amplify Clearwater.
The move came after years of talk, and months of study by the two organizations. Many in the city have long wondered why Clearwater needs two disparate groups focused on promoting business.

Amanda Payne, the president and CEO of the Clearwater Beach group, will lead the new group, Amplify Clearwater said in a news release Tuesday. Carol Hague, who previously ran the Clearwater Regional Chamber, will also have a role in the organization.
The two now-defunct Chambers have a combined membership of more than 800 businesses, the release noted. Both of the group’s offices will remain open during the merger.
“We are excited about the new opportunities presented by this comprehensive unity plan,” Payne said in a statement.
