Man in critical condition after shooting at Clearwater convenience store

A suspect is in charged with attempted second degree murder, according to police.

CLEARWATER ― One man was hospitalized and another arrested following a shooting Wednesday morning at a convenience store, police.

Michael Devine Jr, 30, and Adrian “A.J. Rivers, 30, had been having an ongoing verbal dispute for months, according to the Clearwater Police Department. Their argument escalated this morning at about 8 a.m. while Rivers was working at Evans Quik Mart at 905 Palmetto St, and he shot Devine, police say.

Devine was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition in intensive care.

Rivers was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and was booked into the Pinellas County jail.
