Police have identified the man who died Monday after trying to force his way behind the front counter of a McDonald’s in Clearwater.
Tyrone S. Martin, 52, was described by police as a transient from Clearwater.
The medical examiner’s office performed an autopsy Tuesday to determine how Martin died. Results are pending toxicology reports.
Police continue to investigate the incident, during which they say Martin attempted to jump over and push his way behind the front counter of the McDonald’s at 539 Missouri Ave. at 6:12 p.m.
An employee restrained Martin, described by police as violent and under the influence of an unknown substance, until officers arrived five minutes later.
Paramedics provided emergency medical care, but Martin became unresponsive, police said.
He was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
