Man, 82, suffers life-threatening injuries after driving into building in Clearwater

An 82-year-old man suffered potential life-threatening injuries after driving his vehicle into a building Wednesday in Clearwater.

According to a release from the City of Clearwater, the man crashed into a wastewater treatment plant belonging to the Public Utilities Department on the 1600 block of Harbor Drive shortly before noon.

The driver, who is not named in the release, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
