Driver narrowly misses pedestrians next to Memorial Causeway, arrested for DUI

Police say the man, who faces multiple charges, was driving on the recreational path next to Memorial Causeway.

CLEARWATER — A Tarpon Springs man was arrested on Saturday after he drove his Kia on the recreational path next to the Memorial Causeway and nearly hit pedestrians, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

Police say they arrested 28-year-old Tyler Keenan around 3 p.m. after he attempted to flee officers on foot.

Keenan was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and resisting an officer without violence.

No pedestrians or cyclists were injured in the incident.

Keenan, who has a previous DUI charge from 2019, was taken to the Pinellas County Jail. He’s since been released, records show.
