CLEARWATER -- An abandoned boat that had been sitting on the south side of the Memorial Causeway for about a year was removed Thursday morning.
In a post on its Facebook page, Clearwater police said Divecom Marine Services removed the boat from where it had sat near the east end of the bridge.
“About a dozen residents of the adjacent condominium complex watched and applauded as the boat was freed from its grounded perch, where it had been for about a year,” the post states.
“A recent change in city ordinance related to derelict vessels made the removal possible,” the post states. “We have other vessels on our radar for possible removal as well, but there is a process we have to follow. Our goal is to make the city’s waterways safer to navigate and remove these boats from the water."
