Tampa 19-year-old dies in head-on collision in Clearwater

CLEARWATER — A 19-year-old from Tampa died Wednesday in a head-on collision on Drew Street, police said.

The incident took place about 12:41 p.m. on Drew Street between N Highland Avenue and N Crest Avenue.

Lacedric Graham of Tampa was driving a Toyota Corolla west on Drew Street, according to Clearwater police, when he crossed the center line.

He ended up driving into the path of a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Nicholas Fritz, 78, of Clearwater.

Graham was fatally injured in the crash and died at the scene. Fritz was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg hospital for treatment of what police called serious injuries. Drew Street was closed for several hours while officers investigated the incident.

Police did not say what caused the Corolla driver to leave his lane, or if the drivers were wearing seat belts.

No other information about the crash was released by Clearwater police.
