PALM HARBOR — A 24-year-old Holiday man lost control of his motorcycle on Saturday evening and died in a crash on Alderman Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place just after 6 p.m. on eastbound Alderman Road near Eagles Nest Drive.

The motorcyclist was headed east “at a high rate of speed,” troopers said, when he lost control.

The motorcycle left the roadway, overturned and then struck a utility pole.

The motorcyclist died of his injuries at the crash scene. He was wearing a helmet.

The Highway Patrol did not release the name of the motorcyclist because his family had not yet been notified of his death.
