CLEARWATER — The roof of the beachfront Opal Sands Resort was struck by lightning Saturday morning sending debris into the parking lot below, according to Clearwater police.
One vehicle was hit by the debris but no one was injured.
The Clearwater Police Department closed one of the parking lots next to the resort while work crews assessed the damage and any potential risks.
The department reported that operations at the hotel were unaffected.
